Sarah is in her graduation year today. She is finalizing her project, like her classmates, before attacking the last straight line of formalization of a solution before her internship! She tells us about her choice for Strate.
HELLO SARAH, CAN YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF?
I am Sarah Benessiano. I am 25. I am a traveller, a handyman who likes to learn from everything.
WHAT WAS YOUR JOURNEY BEFORE ENTERING STRATE? WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO MOVE TOWARDS DESIGN?
I did a baccalaureate of science which naturally led me to a DUT in Mechanical and Production Engineering. Then I did a second DUT (Civil Engineering) in one year because I wanted to become an architect. Finally, after this second degree in my pocket, I realized that architecture was not at all what I wanted to do. So I looked for a formation that includes design, drawing, problem-solving, etc. and I “fell” on Strate.
WHY IN STRATE?
I did a whole day of open doors to “all” design schools in Paris. I had a crush on the workshop, its “human scale”, and the description students gave me of the school (i.e. diverse and varied projects, a lot of work and sleepless nights).
HOW DID YOU BECOME INTERESTED IN PRODUCT DESIGN? DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU WANTED TO DO THAT BEFORE ENTERING STRATE?
I wanted to be an architect or “inventor”, I grouped both. The Product Design course has become a little obvious to me. I wanted to create and I like to prototype so I could not see myself producing anything physical.
YOU ARE IN 5TH GRADE, WHAT IS YOUR DREAM TODAY?
My short-term dream is to finish my dissertation. I would say doing “useful” design. I participated in a Hackathon at the ICM (Institute of Brain and Spinal Cord) on Parkinson’s disease. It makes one really realize the importance of careers like ours. How, with a little nothing, we can revolutionize the lives of so many people. I have no claim to want to be known, but I would like that what I create can improve the quality of life of those who use it.
HOW DO YOU SEE YOURSELF AFTERWARDS, AFTER YOUR STUDIES?
During my studies at Strate, I took a one-year break during which I travelled and discovered many different cultures. I wish I could combine my desire to help and my passion for discovery and travel. Come what may =)
