With the onset of the Covid 19 pandemic, the world has significantly changed, and we are in the dawn of a new era. In this new normal, schools and colleges have been closed, but learning never stops as most institutions embraced online education. Offices have been closed, yet employees continue to be productive by embracing digital and technological innovations, governments had to radically change their style of governance, they had to act, be proactive and increase their focus on the health and well-being of their citizens. Travel almost came to a standstill, yet we are more connected with everyone than before. This new normal has redefined the way we think, work, interact and engage with our peers, family, and society. The pandemic has created new challenges and opportunities, while some of our old problems still exist.

Despite all the hardship we have endured during this pandemic, we as a community have learned & relearnt some key lessons of compassion, value, and inclusivity. The new normal has made us focus on health both physical and mental, bought the sustainability conversations back into our living rooms and we have been inspired by the human spirit and resilience in combating tough conditions.

The New future will be shaped by individuals through innovation, human resilience, our ability to adapt and respond positively to difficult circumstances.

We at Strate School of Design would like to support and encourage young talented students who challenge the status quo, think out of the box, encourage intellectual curiosity, and empower themselves to become active citizens and positive change-makers who will contribute to the new future.

Students are expected to create a poster, explaining how to embody the values of the ILEAD scholarship and how will you plan to influence in shaping the new future.

With COVID-19 disrupting the lives of people across the globe, thereby creating a plethora of new problems, challenges, and opportunities for various communities, ethnicities, and geographies. The purpose of the iLEAD Scholarship is to encourage youth to define, conceptualize and articulate problems and recommend Innovative, adaptive, and disruptive solutions through exploration, learning, and empowering themselves to be a change-maker.

The news is full of reports and updates about various problems that include -worldwide pandemic, climate change, gender discrimination, access to healthcare at times making us feel overwhelmed by these.

Where does one even begin? Which problems need to be addressed first? Can one individual bring about change, let alone solve a problem?

Well, we at Strate School of Design believe you can!

You could be an Influencer of the future making an impact through your unique approach to problem-solving once you decide to focus on them.

• Choose an area or topic that you are passionate about and would like to make a difference. This area could be a problem, opportunity, or challenge faced by society, world, community, ethnic groups, gender, environment. Etc
• Articulate and analyze the problem that you would like to contribute to. We would encourage you to create a problem statement
• Let us know your proposal on how you would like to contribute, influence, or solve this problem, opportunity or challenge.
• We encourage our students also express and provide evidence of

Step 01:

• Submission should be done on A3-sized posters that should be either scanned or digitally made.
• The format should be either PDF or JPG and each poster’s size should not exceed the recommended size.
• The first round of selection will be based on three categories:
  a. UG Marks ( All Semesters)
  b. Poster Making
  c. Documents showing achievements in the Design domain
• Shortlisted students will compete in the final round.

Step 02:

• Students are to present their projects in front of a jury online.
• Students will be allotted 10 minutes for their presentation, followed by a 10-minute Q/A session.
• The format for the presentation can either be PPT/Keynote/PDF and should be submitted before the given deadline.
• Applicants should present the file that was submitted by them to us. Any other doc or addition will not be entertained.
• The date of the presentation will be: (to be decided and communicated along with Step 01 results)

Step 03: 

A jury of both academic and industry experts will attend the presentations, and would assign the scholarship according to the following criteria:

•  Understanding the actual world and its challenges.
• Formulate the right design question and brief.
• Exhaustivity of the creation phase
• Relevance of the final choice
• Relevance of the concepts, shape, and technical solutions
• Oral quality of the presentation
• Visual quality of the presentation.
• Overall effect of the presented concept.

Design for sustainability:

We are consuming products every day. Most of them have a big impact on resources, and the environment. How can we think of making them more sustainable by enhancing their resource consumption, durability, recyclability, logistic, packaging, or upgradability? Design a product for tomorrow keeping all this in mind.

Design a digital experience: 

The world is turning digital, everybody starts to do everything with their mobile devices.

Design a system, an app, or an interface that helps humankind to use technology and enhance the experience of users.

Design the new mobility: 

You have noticed that moving in cities is evolving, shared bicycles and scooters, Yulu and bounce, Ola and Uber, electric autonomous cars, more and more common transportation, …. all this is the beginning of a very interesting evolution in urban mobility. Please think about what should come next for us in the coming 5 years.

Co-sharing: 

The new generations are less interested in “owning things”, they are more interested in using things when they need them. Rental, and pay and use systems are blooming in all domains: cars, bikes, scooters, even insurances and houses, power tools, and house equipment

This will help in decreasing the number of products built, transported and sold, and then used less than 40% of the time and stored somewhere, wasting valuable space inside or outside households.

Invent a sharing system in the domain that you want that helps people to do what needs to be done when it needs to be done without the need of owning an under-used object.

Space and furniture design for social distancing:

Social distancing is the new normal, but it is evolving the way we use spaces at home, in workshops, common transports, or in offices.

Design a solution (space management, furniture product, or system) that helps to live more easily the social distancing constraints.

Keep in mind human relationships, space efficiency (cost and limitation), and most personal well-being.

If you find that there are more important challenges that need to be solved to help mankind and the full planet, please do not hesitate to be bold and present us a solution that would be: simple, just, and beautiful.

Here are the other scholarships offered by us.

Merit Scholarship

• The scholarship will be offered to students securing an aggregate of 80% marks in class X & XII in CBSE/ ICSE / State Examination Board.
• Alternatively, extraordinary performance in sports, performing arts, and other extra-curricular activities will also be considered for this scholarship.
• Scholarships will be allotted for the first semester in merit order to eligible candidates.
• Scholarships will be awarded based on Merit only.

In-State Scholarships

• Scholarships under this category will be offered to Karnataka domicile students.
• Students should have and be able to present a permanent residence certificate or any other valid proof of domicile.
• Scholarships will be allotted for the first semester to eligible candidates.
• The number of scholarships is limited and will be awarded on a first-come basis.

Girl Student Scholarship

• Scholarship on tuition fees for girls taking admission in any of the Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs for 2021 Intake.
• Scholarships will be allotted for the first semester to eligible candidates.
•  The number of scholarships is limited and will be awarded on a first-come basis.
