HELLO, CAN YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF IN A FEW WORDS?
I am Alicia Pommelet and I am 22 years old. I have been passionate about photography for almost 10 years. My biggest interests are ready-to-wear, cosmetics, graphic design, and packaging. I am always on the lookout for the latest graphic and design trends.
WHAT WAS YOUR JOURNEY BEFORE ENTERING STRATE?
Before Strate, I passed my Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Social Sciences. I have always had the creative fibre and I have also always practiced visual arts next to high school classes.
WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO GO BACK TO STRATE? WHY STRATE?
I knew that I wanted to put my creative skills to the benefit of my future profession. I hesitated for a long time between advertising/communication studies and design studies. I wanted my creativity to have a real purpose in life and to have some influence on people. It is first of all the “claw” of Stratos that made me want to integrate Strate and also the “family” side of this school, where everyone knows each other, where mutual help reigns! Obviously, I was very attracted by companies with which Strate is a partner, super agencies and beautiful houses.
HOW DID YOU BECOME INTERESTED IN BRAND IDENTITY DESIGN DURING YOUR STUDIES?
The interest in identity design came to me during all the projects we were able to achieve until the end of the second year, that’s when I realized that the identity was a very important facet of design. Without identity a design project has no value, it is not attractive and sometimes it cannot be understood! It was also during all my research during the various projects carried out before the specialization that I was attracted by identity, the graphics on Pinterest, the elements of sexy communication, and the way of capturing attention using an effective graphic style. I have also always been interested in beautiful bottles, beautiful packaging and it was during the identity initiation in second year that I understood that it was what I wanted to do. I understood that packaging was fully involved in the construction of the image of the brand/product and the approach of seduction.
HOW WOULD YOU ADVISE A YOUNG PERSON TO JOIN IDENTITY DESIGN AT STRATE AND WHY?
I would advise a young person to join the brand identity design course by considering the important place of the identity in all the projects’ design. It is the first thing which attracts consumers. A good visual, a beautiful identity makes it possible to give a good first impression. It conveys, in the fairest way, the identity and the values ??of a project to touch potential interested persons. Then I encourage you to move towards this major because it is really wide and you come out with a lot of skills: we are attached to the communication, marketing and management of brands, we are able to make the creation logos, branding, signage, packaging, graphics, publishing, advertising, and so much more! We have the ability to follow the development of a brand and its identity from A to Z and all this by managing in every corner Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
YOU HAVE JUST PASSED YOUR DEFENSE AND YOU ARE LEAVING FOR A VALID INTERNSHIP. WHAT DO YOU REMEMBER FROM THIS LAST YEAR? DEFENSES?
I am pursuing an internship at Dior Parfums to put my creativity to the benefit of the next concepts cosmetics, care, and fragrances of the house. I’m really happy to have chosen this channel at Strate and I would not see myself doing anything else; I found the domain in which I see myself completely evolve: Identity Design. In the future, I think I want to proceed to the field of cosmetics. Regarding the defences, it was quite satisfying to push as much a project and to even think about it as an entrepreneurial project in the framework of the module Invest in design with PSB. What I retain from my defense is that one must always do the maximum and exceed its limits to be as much as possible satisfied with oneself and one’s work. But above all, sharing: always exchange with others, help each other and stimulate each other!
WHAT ARE YOU PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE? A DREAM IN PARTICULAR.
I may be considering, in the future, to set up my start-up based on the concept I proposed during my defense. I would be really amazed to see this project take shape and it would be completely crazy if it could make a box!
For now, I just want to develop quietly in design agencies. I had the chance to acquire skills in the field of luxury through various experiences and that’s what I want to continue to do. But I am open to other worlds and I also hope to have the opportunity to travel!
