The minimum qualification required to apply for Strate’s Transportation Design course is a pass in Class 12 from any recognized university or board with an aggregate of at least 50%.The Strate Entrance Process will involve the following

At the end of the interaction design course, you will receive a BSc/MSc in Design from Jain (Deemed-to-be) University and certificate from Strate School of Design, Paris.

The minimum qualification required to apply for Strate’s Transportation Design course is a pass in Class 12 from any recognized university or board with an aggregate of at least 50%. There is no entrance exam for the transportation design course. However, there will be an interview with the school’s Dean, Thomas Dal, or a member of the faculty to assess your interest in the course. - Duration

- Strate’s Transportation/Automobile Design course trains designers of tomorrow, who will be able to develop a transversal and global vision of these transportation issues (whether they deal with cars, public or individual transport, aeronautics, ships, etc.) with a double exigency in terms of formal and conceptual excellence.

- Strate’s transportation designing course will acclimate students with the fundamentals of design in years 1 and 2. From year 3, the course focuses on and proceeds to skill them in the different areas of transportation design.

You can opt for the Interaction Design course in your third year of study. Admission to our Interaction Design course involves,
- Filling the online application form
- Submission of the completed application form along with the application fee of INR 2000
- Qualifying in the Strate Admission Test/Interview and Portfolio review.
- Securing the seat by paying 10% of the first year fees.
- Finalizing the admission by paying the first semester fees (minus the 10% already paid)
- Submission of relevant documents and proofs.
Strate’s comprehensive internship process involves students taking up 18 months of internship throughout the duration of their course. 6 months of the internship will be spent abroad learning the nuances of the global design industry.

An M.Des. in Transportation Design equips you to design the interiors and exteriors of the automobiles and vehicles such as cars, tricycles, motorbikes, quad bikes, trains, buses, airplanes, and speedboats.
The cost for the visit to Paris/international study tour is not a part of the tuition fee.
The minimum eligibility criteria to apply for the 5-year Master of Design program is a pass qualification in the 10+2 examination in any field from a recognized state or central or equivalent board. Furthermore, graduates can directly apply for the 2-year M.Sc program.
The Integrated Masters in Design program at Strate School of Design, Bangalore, is a 5-year full-time integrated graduate program. At the end of the program, you will receive a Degree from Strate School of Design, Paris, and a degree from Jain (Deemed-to-be) University, Bangalore.

Thomas Dal, Dean,
Strate School of Design
Thomas graduated from ISD France in 1999, then joined TREVES, a French automotive manufacturer Head of Innovation and Design (Europe) for Treves.
In 2008 he took the challenge to Start DSK –ISD Rubika school of design in Pune. After 3 years of running this school successfully, he shifted back to France to be the head of Innovation and design for Decathlon – Newfeel
All along with his career in both transportation and product design, Thomas ran his own design consultancy and gained experience in space, graphic, and experience design working for multi-nationals.
According to him, a holistic approach and curiosity of both technology and social fields ensure the success of solving most of the challenges of tomorrow.
Mandar Kale,
Head of Academics
Mandar is an Electrical Engineer, Industrial Designer, and Design Educator, though currently, he calls himself a design generalist. A keen observer by nature, design for him is a juggling act of creation, communication, and implementation, with user emotion at the core of all activities.
His current role is building a design school from the ground up and conceptualizing the future generation of designers at Strate School of Design –Bangalore, where he heads the Academic as well as the product design department.
Prior to Strate, Mandar was in a leadership role at ISD – Rubika India, heading an international team of designers to conceive and build conducive and inspiring learning environments. He has been appreciated for his impact on students and his approach to inclusive learning.
As a design coach and teacher for over a decade, he has taught design process, creativity, speculative design, design visualization, and sketch thinking at the postgraduate and undergraduate levels.
An alumnus of IDC School of Design (IIT BOMBAY), he has worked across various domains including automotive, medical products, lifestyle products, retail environments, FMCG, and point of sale, creating products, services, and experiences. Mandar resides in Bangalore with his family.

Edmund Spitz,
Head of Transportation Design
Edmund graduated with a Masters’ Degree in Transportation Design Management. He is an Automotive Designer with over a decade in global automotive OEMs and has worked on multiple autonomous vehicle programs for Mercedes-Benz, USA, Germany, and SAIC Innovation Center USA, most notably the 2015 Freightliner Inspiration Autonomous Truck.
He is experienced in managing creative teams with award-winning products and established the Bharat Benz Design Studio in India in 2012, growing it to be a key creative team in the Daimler Global Design Network and creating successful products suited for the Domestic market.
He brings to academics a fresh and efficient design methodology honed from his time in the corporate design world. Focusing on equipping the next generation of designers with the ever-evolving design tools and practices.
Vivek Radhakrishna
Design Mentor
Indo-French designer Vivek Radhakrishnan graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven, the Netherlands. His craftsman like ideology, combined with his keen interest in materials and industrial processes, have defined his work and approach to design till date.
Post his graduation, Vivek moved to New York City where he worked in the field of furniture design, visual merchandising and retail environments for a large array of clients.
In early 2004, he returned home to Bangalore in southern India, to set up his design studio and manufacturing unit, where he worked primarily on furniture for the home environment. During this time he also consulted with various European designers, helping them develop their concepts into finished products, as well as setting up their productions in India. Along with his wife Namu Kini, Vivek co-founded KYNKYNY, a gallery for contemporary Indian art. Many of his design projects have been collaborations with artist friends from the gallery.
Since then he has participated at international design symposiums, and been a guest professor at different design schools around the world.
Along side his career in design, Vivek has been an elite level endurance athlete, competing in races around the world. After his career in furniture design, he pursued his passion for sports, working with Specialized Bicycles from California, USA. His experience there covered business strategy, product development and marketing.
Today, Vivek is largely focused on education, and his gallery KYNKYNY.com. He teaches design at the STRATE School of Design, Bangalore, and is also involved in creating a center for the Arts and Sciences in Bangalore, in association with the Raman Research Institute Trust, where he is a trustee
