The decision to call ourselves “Strate” reflects our focus on clarity, simplicity, sound impact, and an international perspective.
The subtitle “School of Design” clearly affirms our mission, that we are a design school.
The school’s new motto reveals our desire to “make the world more simple, just, and beautiful”, reiterating the school’s fundamentally humanist approach.
creation of a new visual identity with H5
The agency H5 in France helped us cut through the clutter and showcase the essence of our philosophy. Our brief was to display the status of the school clearly illustrate its international outlook, and associate it with a distinct visual design. We chose Studio H5, partly because of their work in electronic music and the fields of culture and industry. This was consistent with the new image and identity we were looking for, Strate.
With H5, we wished to create a bridge between the Strate brand and our major stakeholders, our future and current students, the alumni, and the designer fraternity. In response to our brief, H5 proposed that we go beyond a new logo, a new charter, and the works. They offered a new language. Strate is thus highlighted as being at the helm, with a bar at the base of its name, which symbolizes a horizon line: a goal to reach.
It is on this horizon that our teachers, staff, partners, and students rely on and which the future students will look to. Strate is a base, a foundation, a starting point. To affirm this new visual grammar created by H5, we created a new font designed especially for the school, which takes the bar above each of the letters
